Problem-based learning, or PBL, is a pedagogical practice employed in many medical schools. While there are numerous variants of the technique, the approach includes the presentation of an applied problem to a small group of students who engage in discussion over several sessions. A facilitator, sometimes called a tutor, provides supportive guidance for the students. Problem-based learning (PBL) has been a concept in existence for decades yet its implementation in medical student education is limited.
Throughout my career clinical reasoning, critical thinking and ongoing self-directed learning skills have been critical to my success – enabling me to deliver the best possible care to my patients. There are several ways through which one can learn. If you are a medical student, you need to be thorough with all the concepts in order to use it in real life. It will help you to avoid complications in the future. But is Problem Based Learning (PBL) a good option for medical students? A lot of medical schools are using Problem Based Learning.
